How this calculator works
Pick the standards you’d want in a partner and the calculator estimates what share of adults meet all of them. Each standard keeps some share of people (about 16% of American men are 6 feet or taller, for example, and about 23% have an income of $100,000 or more), and every standard you add shrinks the pool again, which is why the result falls so quickly. For the U.S., age, race, marriage and income are counted together from real Census records, so the answer reflects the ages you actually pick.
The numbers come from public data: the U.S. Census Bureau, the CDC and Pew Research for the United States, and national statistics offices, the UN, the World Health Organization and the World Bank for 197 other countries.
